Delete Account

DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT

FINDERNATE ECOM PRIVATE LIMITED

Applies to the Findernate mobile app and findernate.com

You can delete your Findernate account at any time. There are three ways to do it and they all end at the same place — the account record and the content listed in section 4 are removed from our servers straight away. Deletion is permanent: there is no grace period, no archive and no way to restore the account or its content afterwards.

1. DELETE FROM THIS PAGE

Checking whether you are signed in…

2. DELETE FROM THE APP

In the Findernate app, open:

Settings → Account → Delete Account

Enter your password to confirm. This runs exactly the same deletion as the button above.

3. REQUEST DELETION BY EMAIL

If you have lost access to your account and cannot sign in, email us and we will delete it for you once we have confirmed you own it:

FINDERNATE ECOM PRIVATE LIMITED

Email: infofindernate@gmail.com

Subject: Account deletion request

Include in your message:

  • The email address or username the account is registered under
  • The phone number on the account, if you added one

We respond to deletion requests within 30 days, as required under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. We will never ask you for your password by email.

4. WHAT IS DELETED

Deleting your account permanently removes:

  • Your account record: name, username, email address, phone number, date of birth and bio
  • Your content: posts, reels, stories, drafts and the comments and likes you left anywhere on the platform
  • Your business profile and the business ratings you gave
  • Your messages: every message you sent, and your membership of every conversation you were in
  • Your social graph: followers, following, follow requests, contact requests and blocks in both directions
  • Your activity trail: saved posts, search history, notifications and the interaction history behind your feed
  • Your reports and feedback submitted to us
  • Push notification registrations and device tokens, so notifications stop reaching your devices

Conversations themselves are not destroyed, because they are shared records: the person you were talking to keeps the messages they wrote and any photos they sent, which they may need to defend a dispute over an order. Your own messages are gone from that thread.

5. WHAT WE HAVE TO KEEP

Your uploaded photos and videos are not deleted from our media CDN

Deleting your account removes the posts, reels and stories that displayed your images and videos, and the account record that pointed at your profile photo. It does not delete the underlying image and video files, which stay stored on our media CDN. They stop appearing anywhere on Findernate, but they are not erased, and anyone who already has a direct link to a file can still open it.

Deleting a post, reel or story on its own does delete its files from the CDN. So if you want those files gone as well, delete your posts, reels and stories individually first, then delete your account. Note that a post with an order still open cannot be deleted until that order is closed — see section 6.

Two kinds of file have no such remedy. Photos and videos you sent in chat are removed from the conversation but not from the CDN, and there is no way to delete them individually. Profile photos are the same: setting a new one does not remove the old one, so every profile photo you have ever set stays stored. Once the account is deleted we can no longer tell which files were yours, so we cannot remove any of them for you afterwards — if this matters to you, contact us at infofindernate@gmail.com before you delete your account.

Some records are not ours alone to erase. The following survive account deletion, and we are telling you plainly rather than claiming everything disappears:

  • Orders you placed or fulfilled, including the name, phone number and delivery address recorded on each order. Indian tax and financial regulations require transaction records to be kept, and the other party to the transaction has their own claim on them. As stated in our Privacy Policy, transaction records — including escrow transactions — are retained for 7 years
  • Escrow ledger entries and payment links attached to those orders, for the same period and the same reason
  • Audio and video call records: who called whom, when, for how long and whether it connected. Call content is never recorded
  • Your legal acceptance record: which version of the Terms, Privacy Policy, Seller Terms and Community Guidelines you accepted, when, and the IP address it was accepted from. This is the evidence that consent was given and it cannot be deleted on request

After the applicable retention period expires, this information is securely deleted or anonymised. See section 7 of our Privacy Policy for the full retention schedule.

6. BEFORE YOU DELETE

  • Complete or cancel any open orders. Deleting your account does not cancel an order, refund a payment or release money held in escrow
  • Cancel a paid business subscription first if you do not want it to renew — the subscription is billed by our payment provider, not by the account record
  • Save anything you want to keep. We cannot recover content after deletion, even minutes later
  • Your username is released and may be taken by someone else
