Pre-release test build

This is not the Google Play release. It is a signed test build for people helping us test the app before launch. Once Findernate is live on Google Play, install from there instead — this build will stop being updated.

1. WHAT DOES NOT WORK IN THIS BUILD

Two payment paths are disabled by the payment providers themselves whenever an app is installed outside Google Play, not by anything in Findernate:

  • The in-app store (Cashfree). Cashfree refuses to process a payment on an app that did not come from Play, and shows “not a trusted source.”
  • Subscriptions (Small Business / Corporate). These use Google Play Billing, which only activates for an app installed from Play. The plans screen works; the purchase will not complete.

Everything else — feed, posting, reels, stories, messaging, calling and search — works the same as it will on Play.

2. HOW TO INSTALL

  1. Open this page on an Android phone and tap Download.
  2. Android will likely block the install and offer a “Settings” button — allow installs from whichever app you downloaded it with (usually your browser).
  3. Open the downloaded file and confirm the install.

If you already have an older Findernate test build installed, this one is signed with the same key and installs as an update — no need to uninstall first.
